Theoretically, the current (AppleScript-based) launcher should work fine if the correct version of Java were installed, but when the 1.6. The legacy launcher, unless cracked in some way, would not work because its access to the servers (meaning offline play) was cut off, and as far as I'm aware, its code is not modifiable in order to accommodate newer versions than what it shipped with. Technically, there are also methods to get Java 7 on Tiger and Leopard. 1.5.2 is convenient in that it has been modified to have a custom launcher but nothing like that exists for 1.6 and up, at least that I know of.

Because of this, I'm not sure how to even open up the game. The current launcher would most likely not work and the legacy launcher most likely wouldn't function correctly. However, beyond installing Java 6, I'm not sure what would work to actually launch a newer version. I have not tried anything yet, but I would like to test this out by first installing Java 6 onto my PowerBook G4 with Leopard. I have tested out 1.5.2 which is a solid version that runs great and after making a video covering the updated version being released, I started wondering if anything newer would be possible to get running. Firstly, I do know that Java 5 was the last officially supported version to be released for PowerPC, but there are also known methods to install Java 6 on Tiger and Leopard.
